The Second Saturday Documentary Series at Niles Discovery Church is featuring AWAKE, A Dream from Standing Rock. This film will be shown on Saturday, November 11 at 1:30pm and is sponsored by the San Jose Peace & Justice Center and Niles Discovery Church.

AWAKE, A Dream from Standing Rock is a record of the massive peaceful resistance led by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to the Dakota Access Pipeline through their land and underneath the Missouri River. This film is a powerful visual poem in three parts that uncovers complex hidden truths with simplicity.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North Dakota captured the world’s attention in the fall of 2016 when they started protesting an oil pipeline that threatened their reservation, sacred sites, and clean water. AWAKE tells the dramatic story of their historic #NoDAPL peaceful resistance at the Cannonball River. Tens of thousands of activists traveled to North Dakota from all over the world to take a stand alongside the “water protectors” – activists opposing construction of the 3.7 billion dollar Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL).
